Koli, Lieksa is the base for Sorahiisi gravel cycling.

National landscape, gravel in all its forms – Sorahiisi offers gravel cycling on the best roads in Europe.

When you get to Koli, you'll be riding for real! Auringonlaskun ajo (Sunset Ride), Sorahiisi gravel 60 km and Sorahiisi gravel 160 km offer a hand-picked cycling route to suit everyone – all routes have been renewed since 2024.

There is also the Sorahiisi Gravel 320 km, which starts at night on Friday, covering 200 miles of gravel from Pielinen to the eastern border. In this premier class, you both race and ride with a sense of adventure, while the shorter distances are pressure-free rides.

In addition to the gravel adventure, Saturday will see Mäkihiisi, the Finnish Uphill Sprint championship! Welcome to take on the epic serpentine of Koli.

    Auringonlaskun ajo (Sunset Ride)

    An impressive 60-kilometer evening cycling tour from the village of Koli through lake views and the exciting museum road to the Vuonislahti harbor. Finally, a boat transfer across Lake Pielinen back to Koli as the sun sets.

  • Sorahiisi Gravel cycling 320 kilometers

    Sorahiisi Gravel 320 km

    The premier gravel bike race is a 320-kilometer, all-night gravel adventure that begins with a boat trip across Lake Pielinen. The cycling route circles Lieksa's most rugged wilderness landscapes and even rougher gravel roads. The final stop is in Ukko-Koli, on the roof of the national landscape.

    Sorahiisi gravel 60/160 km

    The shorter gravel bike rides are around 60 or 160 kilometers, with glimpses of Lake Pielinen glimmering through the trees and incredibly vibrant gravel roads nestled in the lap of the national landscape. And of course, it all ends at the top.

  • Cycling Uphill Sprint Finnish Championship

    Mäkihiisi Uphill Sprint

    The cycling uphill sprint Mäkihiisi is a short but relentless sprint from the village of Koli to the top of Koli. The unofficial Finnish uphill sprint championships are held at Mäkihiisi, and you can also come just to test yourself or ride in the carnival spirit.
