Vaskihiisi

The Sorahiisi team and the city of Lieksa are co-organising the Vaskihiisi cycling event on Saturday 2.8. on the final day of the traditional Lieksa Brass Week.

The event is free of charge and will run routes of about 20 and 50 kilometres from the centre of Lieksa.

The Vaskihiisi is a great opportunity to get a taste of the gravel biking trails in the Lieksa area and the Sorahiisi event in Koli at the end of August.

  • The 20 kilometre route is beginner friendly cycling and the route is mainly in urban areas, on asphalt roads. There are also some dirt roads for spice. All types of bikes are welcome.

  • 50 kilometres is a real gravel ride! The route is clearly challenging, with mainly gravel roads and lots of hills. You need a bike suitable for gravel or off-road riding.

Both routes are run in a towed group and you can also ride the route at your own pace. There is a service point along the route where you can refill your water bottles and enjoy a light snack. If the ride is not completed, a shuttle service will be provided for both cyclists and cycles back to the starting point. The routes are not marked, but will be sent to registered cyclists by phone with a map link. All participants will receive a small token at the finish line!
